Schwab Fundamental Index® ETFs offered by Charles Schwab Investment Management
An innovative methodology.
These ETFs track the Russell RAFI Index® Series, which uses three fundamental measures of a company size:
Adjusted sales—The average sales for a company over a set period of time, adjusted to remove the effects of any leverage (financial measures used to increase an investment's potential return).
Retained operating cash flow—The average cash generated from a company’s operations over a set period that can be reinvested in the business.
Dividends plus buybacks—A portion of a company's earnings that are distributed to shareholders, plus a company's repurchase of stocks in the marketplace. These measure how a company uses its capital.
Low expenses and commission-free trading
Schwab Fundamental Index* ETFs are a low-cost alternative to actively managed funds and have competitive operating expenses compared to similar ETFs. And you can trade them commission-free online in your Schwab account.1

Investment returns will fluctuate and are subject to market volatility, so that an investor’s shares, when redeemed or sold, may be worth more or less than their original cost. Unlike mutual funds, shares of ETFs are not individually redeemable directly with the ETF. Shares are bought and sold at market price, which may be higher or lower than the net asset value (NAV).
Diversification does not eliminate the risk of investment losses.
International investments may involve risk of capital loss from unfavorable fluctuation in currency values, differences in generally accepted accounting principles, and economic or political instability in other nations. Emerging markets involve heightened risks related to the same factors as well as increased volatility and lower trading volume. Investments in smaller companies typically exhibit higher volatility.
