Narrator: Looking to see customized information about specific securities in your custom watchlists?
The Schwab.com Summary page appears with a large arrow cursor that follows the steps the narrator describes.
Narrator: To get started, select Trade or Research, then select Watchlist.
The cursor follows these directions and the Schwab.com Watchlist page appears.
Narrator: If you haven't already created a custom watchlist, this page will display one of your automatically tracked securities watchlists from one of your Schwab brokerage accounts. You can create a custom watchlist by selecting Create Watchlist.
A blue box highlights the Create Watchlist button.
Narrator: For this example, we have a custom watchlist already set up. Select the desired custom watchlist from the dropdown menu under My Watchlists.
The cursor selects a watchlist from the dropdown menu.
Narrator: To edit the order that your securities appear, select Edit Watchlist and use the drag handles to reorder them as you see fit. When you're done, select Save Watchlist.
The cursor reorders the securities using the drag handles, then selects Save Watchlist.
To add a security to your watchlist, enter its name or symbol in the Add Symbol field. To remove a security, select its delete icon. The Add Symbol and the delete icon are available on all table views, and the delete icon appearing when you move the cursor over its area on the table.
A security is entered into the Add Symbol field, and it is added to the watchlist. Then a security is removed using the delete icon. The delete icon appears when the cursor is over it, then disappears when it is not.
Narrator: To further customize your view of this watchlist, select the Custom View tab. From here, select the Customize drop down menu and select Edit Columns. A window will open with additional modification options.
The cursor selects the Custom View tab, then the Customize drop down menu, and selects Edit Columns. The Edit columns pop-up window appears.
Narrator: The first is a field where you can change the name of the Custom View tab to reflect your customizations. Additionally, you can choose to display or hide the symbol description. This can give you additional vertical room to view more securities at once. Next, you can choose from a list of data columns to display or hide from your custom view, including Quotes data, Fundamental data, Positions data, and more. Select the check boxes to add or remove data columns. Once you've chosen your columns, select Next.
The cursor points at the mentioned fields and scrolls down to show the column categories. It selects and de-selects some options, then selects Next. The pop-up window changes to the Arrange Columns window.
Narrator: Here you can reorder how the columns will appear by moving them via their drag handles, with the top selection appearing after the Symbol column. Select Save to save your custom view preferences.
The cursor rearranges the order of the data points using the drag handles and selects Save. The page refreshes with the new data points in the selected order.
Narrator: The custom view will update automatically, and your selected data columns will now display in the order you chose. Additionally, you can tailor how your watchlists are displayed when you open the Watchlist page by selecting Customize then Customize defaults.
The cursor selects Customize, then Customize defaults and the Customize Defaults pop-up window appears.
Narrator: In the window you can choose to modify your defaults, or simply have them appear the way you left them in your last session by picking Last selected in all the dropdown menus. When you're done, select Save to preserve your new default settings.
The cursor points at the mentioned fields and changes one, then selects Save.
