Why Schwab?

Schwab was built around a simple idea: Put the client first. We do that by offering a more modern approach. Click here to learn more: www.schwab.com/whyschwab.

Three steps to $100:

  • Step One

Receive a referral from a Schwab client. If they don't share their referral code, ask your friend to send it to you.

  • Step Two

Become a Schwab client by opening an eligible account and enrolling in the offer. Once you receive their referral code, click the link if they sent it to you via email or text, or copy the referral code into the Offer/Referral Code field when you open an account. Opening an account with Schwab online usually takes about 10 minutes.

  • Step Three

Receive your $100. We'll deposit your bonus award directly into your new account about 30 days after you open it.

FAQs

I am not a Schwab client. How can I take advantage of this promotion?

Most Schwab clients are able to refer you. They will need to provide you with their unique referral code. If they don't know their code, they can go to schwab.com/refer and follow the simple process to share their code, or after logging in at schwab.com, go to Service>Refer a Friend.

What account types are eligible for this promotion?

Accounts eligible for the Schwab $100 Referral Offer include: Schwab retail brokerage accounts and individual retirement accounts (IRAs), including accounts enrolled in Schwab-sponsored investment advisory programs such as Schwab Intelligent Portfolios®, Schwab Managed Portfolios™, Schwab Managed Account Select® and Connection, and Schwab Private Client™. Schwab Bank High Yield Investor Checking® accounts qualify when combined with Schwab One® accounts (standalone Schwab Bank High Yield Investor Checking® accounts do not qualify). The offer does not apply to accounts managed by independent investment advisors, the Schwab Global Account™, ERISA-covered retirement plans, certain tax-qualified retirement plans and accounts, or education savings accounts.

What if I haven’t received my Bonus Award in my new account and it's been over 30 days?

We're most likely just checking that your account qualifies for the award. Please call a representative at 800-398-8640 if you have questions about your bonus award.

While we greatly appreciate all client business, we are unable to accept personal referrals from clients who hold only PCRA or CRA with Schwab.

Terms & Conditions

New clients who do not have a Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. ("Schwab") account (other than a Stock Plan Services account), open an eligible retail brokerage account, and enroll in the offer can earn a $100 Bonus Award. The Bonus Award will be credited to the enrolled account within approximately one month of account open. For taxable accounts, the account must be maintained at Schwab for at least one year or Schwab may charge back the Bonus Award.

Schwab reserves the right to change the offer terms or terminate the offer at any time without notice. The offer is limited to one per account, with no more than one account enrolled per client. The offer does not apply to accounts managed by independent investment advisors, the Schwab Global Account™, ERISA-covered retirement plans, certain tax-qualified retirement plans and accounts, or education savings accounts. The offer is not transferable, saleable, or valid in conjunction with certain other offers and is available to U.S. residents only. Employees, contractors, or persons similarly associated with Schwab or a Schwab affiliate; their spouses; and employees of any securities regulatory organization or exchange are not eligible. Schwab may decline requests to enroll in the offer at its discretion. Other restrictions may apply.

Consult with your tax advisor about the appropriate tax treatment of the Bonus Award and any tax implications associated with receipt before enrolling. Any related taxes are your responsibility. For taxable accounts, the amount of the Bonus Award will be reported on your Form 1099-INT. Recent IRS guidance may impact your ability to make more than one IRA to IRA rollover in a one-year period.
