Ever since I was a child I always wanted to be an artist. I was always drawing. … It's just something that was always with me.
I was doing paintings out of my apartment.
And my mother had informed me that I was due a certain amount of an inheritance.
Looking back on it now, if I had been able to talk to more people and had more advice I know that my investment decision, at the time, would have been different.
So I had a meeting with a financial advisor. We discussed certain strategies about my portfolio.
Four years ago I was bought out of my studio space. Because of the financial advice I have gotten I was in a position to buy a property and develop a property.
I'm building this exhibition live/work space from the ground up.
The different properties that I own, they're now becoming income properties. So through that income I'm able to plan ahead for a certain amount of money, which will be available for me in my retirement.
I want to continue with my art work.
So retirement for me is being able to afford the lifestyle that I have right now, that I'm crafting for myself.
