Narrator: To start, go to the Charts tab, and enter an underlying symbol.
To add a study, select Studies. If you choose a preset study—for example, a simple moving average—the study will be added using preset parameters.
However, to adjust these parameters, right-click the study and select Edit Study Simple Moving Average.
Animation: The Inputs length box is highlighted on screen.
Narrator: A window displaying the presets appears. For instance, this moving average is based on nine days of data. If you want your study to show a 50-day moving average, select 9, replace it with 50, then select OK.
Animation: The letters B, O, and L are entered in the box. Then Bollinger Bands are selected from the list.
Narrator: You can also edit a study before you add it. Select Studies, then Edit studies. A window appears, featuring a detailed list of available studies. Select the name of the study you want, then Add selected.
The name of the study appears at the right.
Animation: The Bollinger Bands study is dragged below the price chart and the change is revealed on the graph.
Narrator: Note that you can move studies to a lower panel. You can also delete studies by pointing to them and selecting the X.
To edit a study, select the gear icon. Make any desired adjustments, then select OK.
To preview the changes, select Apply.
If you're satisfied with the appearance, select OK. The edited study now appears on the chart.
