Mike Fairbourn: My name is Mike Fairbourn. I'm a Schwab Education Coach. And I specialize in fundamental and technical analysis.

Onscreen text: What do you love most about being an Education Coach?

Mike Fairbourn: So one of the main things I do love about coaching is the fact that it does tie into what my interests are, what my passion is. And so the markets are very interesting to me. They're very challenging. And with that, I also love teaching and trying to provide what I've learned in the past—some of the ways to look at trading and investing—to our clients and help them out. And I really get a lot of satisfaction out of helping them along the way.

Onscreen text: What is your coaching style like?

Mike Fairbourn: I have a background in fundamentals. And so I spent a lot of time initially looking at fundamental themes, economic drivers, and that was helpful for me to try to then tie that into technical analysis.

Different charts, different patterns, different trends over longer periods of time. And so it's really kind of that combination, where fundamentals and technicals come together.

One of the aspects that I do look at within trading, that I do teach and instruct on, is thinkScript®. And so we focus on a lot of coding, helping the client along to understand different processes that are available to them within the platform, in terms of customizing columns and creating unique indicators for the client.

Onscreen text: What makes you tick?

Mike Fairbourn: What really gets me going in the markets is just the opportunity that might be out there every single day.

We can use our experience that we've gathered along the way and keep improving ourselves. And then over long periods of time, we can be in a much better situation, relative to where we were at the beginning.

Onscreen text: What makes Schwab Coaching® unique?

Mike Fairbourn: So, what is unique about Schwab Coaching is the community, where like-minded individuals gather together to share ideas and concepts. And it is kind of nice to see because these people are on the same level, and they're kind of helping each other learn step by step along the way, along with the education that we provide them as well.
