The short story.

Kevin started his career as an intern at Schwab back in 1997—without much market familiarity. He quickly learned some basics about trading, investing, and corporate life. But what really caught his eye was the idea that he could help clients solidify their knowledge of trading—and he has been doing that ever since. He feels the best part of his job as a coach is guiding traders to help cut through the market noise and understand how their emotions can impact their success.

Kevin Horner: My name is Kevin Horner. I'm a Schwab Education Coach. I specialize in technical analysis and trade management.

Onscreen text: What do you love most about being an Education Coach?

Kevin Horner: What I love about being a coach is finding some one thing, one anecdote, one learning lesson that I've achieved over my quarter century in the market that just resonates with one other person.

Every day, something that is part of our discussions and the topic that we're addressing; somewhere, it mattered to some other individual. And that is so, so powerful. 

Onscreen text: What is your coaching style like?

Kevin Horner: If you're a new attendee to my sessions, you're going to learn about understanding the current trend, both in shorter-term time frames, intermediate-term time frames, and long-term time frames. 

Because multiple time frames are important for all traders. But another thing that a lot of people are going to take away from the classes that I host is going to be about the understanding that you have to have that plan so that you're not surprised. 

And if you were ill-prepared for even a positive move in the stocks that you own, it can be extremely uncomfortable.

And we want to avoid that uncomfortable feeling. We want to be comfortable every step of the way, even in our best-case situations.

Kevin Horner: I love the action of the market. I love the up and down of the market, every single day. Intraday, multiple days, multiple time frames. Doesn't matter. I just love the back and forth. The ideas and concepts of technical analysis speak to me in a way that really simplifies market movement and further, for me at least, recognizing that I am constantly in a state of learning. 

And learning about the market, learning about trading is not something that you should think of as an end game. The end game isn't there. It's ongoing. The market will change. 

The market has changed dramatically in my 28 years of being involved. And believing that the market is going to continue to be the market as we know it today? That's a fool's errand. It's going to continue to evolve. You, as a trader, have to evolve with it. If you don't, you'll be left behind.

We are coaches because we want to be coaches.

Some of you want to come to these live events and shake the hand of a coach and sit in on a workshop and look and get everything face to face with you and 4 or 500 of your closest friends.

Others want to do that from the comfort of their dining room table, and they utilize YouTube for that. You can pick and choose where we can come meet you.
