Barbara Armstrong: Hi. My name is Barbara Armstrong, and I'm a Schwab Education Coach.
I love introducing people to the basic concepts in the world of trading—how to invest, how to buy a stock, how to trade options, how to look at a chart and make sense of it. And then once they have the basics down, I love getting up to a jog, taking them live into the markets, and showing them how they can take those concepts and bring them to life in real market situations.
Onscreen text: What do you love most about being an Education Coach?
Barbara: The thing I love most about being a coach is helping people develop the competence and confidence to take charge of their financial destiny. And to become the person they were meant to be. Like in trading, it's taking charge of their finances and their financial destiny. But you walk differently when you're confident and competent with who you are and where you're going and what you want to do in life.

Barbara: So I still look at everything I do from a client perspective. Some of the classes I've designed are classes that didn't exist that I wish had when I started. Like getting started with option series, where we just talk about one specific strategy each week. Having classes that are dedicated to a particular strategy.
And I think that's one of the things that makes me a little different, in that I still look at it as a client, and I still am a client. And I'm still learning every day.
In the world of trading, there's a lot of terminology. You're really learning not only a new skill set, but a new language. And I really do my best to speak in English, as opposed to what I call trader speak. Because if you understand the message, then the learning happens.
Onscreen text: What makes you tick?
Barbara: What makes me tick? I'm passionate about helping empower other people. And in the world of finances, if people are financially literate and they have a strategy and it's something that's simple to implement, then the odds of people following through and changing their financial destiny becomes really great.
And like I like to say, money isn't all that and a bag of chips, but it's right up there with oxygen, if you don't have enough of it.
Onscreen text: What makes Schwab Coaching® unique?
Barbara: I think what makes Schwab's education unique is that from 9:30 Eastern in the morning until 4:00 Eastern or 5:00 Eastern every day, you can join a coach live. And they are looking at what's going on in the market. They're placing example trades so that you're taking this static information that you've received in a course or in a short video, and you're applying it in real life.
And I think that is really unique. Not just that it exists, but that you can tap into 30 some hours' worth of it each and every week. How incredible is that? And it's free.
