Rob Williams is Vice President of Financial Planning, Retirement Income, and Wealth Management for the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR). In this role, he leads a team to develop research, insights, methodology, and training for Schwab clients, representatives, and advisors focusing on financial planning and wealth management across an investor's life cycle, including saving for, preserving, and distributing assets in retirement.

Rob publishes commentary and insights regularly on, Schwab’s On Investing Magazine, and provides insights on investing, planning, and retirement in financial media including the Wall Street Journal, MoneyWatch, Kiplinger’s, U.S. News & World Report, Investor’s Business Daily, and other publications.

Prior to joining Schwab, Rob was a director at Standard & Poor's in the credit market services Public Finance division in San Francisco, where he served as lead analyst in state and local municipal bond markets, with a focus on a variety of municipal debt issues.

Rob holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification and the Certified Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation. He earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
