Matt leads the Wealth Management Research team within the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR). He develops insights and guidance that help Schwab clients and professionals navigate the complexities of wealth management, including investment planning, retirement planning, banking and lending, education and family support, risk management and insurance, estate planning, and tax planning. Matt is a frequent contributor to leading financial media outlets and industry discussions on wealth management and personal finance.
Matt has more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to Schwab, he spent 17 years at Janus Henderson Investors where he led the specialist consulting group. Before that, he spent 17 years at Morgan Stanley leading the company's retirement planning and financial planning businesses. Matt holds a B.S. from the University of Rhode Island, an MBA from Pace University's Lubin School of Business, and a Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charterholder and Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional.
