Christian leads a team of SCFR investment researchers and strategists in their mission to provide financial consultants, advisors and individual investors with accurate, timely, and actionable market insights
Prior to joining the Schwab Center for Financial Research, Christian was with Schwab Asset Management (SAM®), where he led the investment research and portfolio management teams across several strategic and tactical multi-asset programs, including Schwab Managed Portfolios, Windhaven and the Selective Portfolios. Before this, he led investment research at Charles Schwab Investment Advisory, Inc., and served as portfolio manager and chief investment strategist for the Windhaven® Strategies.
In the years before joining Schwab, Christian was a research scholar at New York University's department of economics and spent nine years at Roubini Global Economics as the global head of research. He has appeared on CNBC, Bloomberg, Reuters, and Forbes, and has been quoted by the financial press and institutions including The International Monetary Fund and the European Commission. He has spoken at the Carnegie Council, Chatham House, the Society for Quantitative Analysis, the Institute for International Research, and other organizations.
Christian has his Doctorate in Economics from the University of Venice, Italy, and a Master's Degree in Economics and Finance from Venice International University.
