Setting alerts can be a convenient way to quickly act on trading and investing opportunities as they arise.
"Set up a security alert" is written in the notebook next to an empty box.
The frame cuts to a full screenshot of the Schwab.com client Account Summary page. Accounts, Trade, Research, Products, Guidance, and Service appear in the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
To set your alerts, rollover "Profile" and choose "Alerts."
The cursor rolls over "Profile," then clicks on "Alerts" from the dropdown menu in the navigation.
From here, click the "Securities Alerts" tab.
A new page appears with alert details listed on the screen.
Enter the stock symbol you want to set an alert for in the search field.
The cursor clicks in the text field and types in a stock symbol.
You will see customizable options for your alert, including: how you want the alert sent to you; price and volume alerts; earnings alerts; news alerts, and research & reports alerts.
Stock alert details for AAPL: NASDAQ appear on a pop up.
Make your selections, then click "Save."
The cursor moves throughout the screen, clicks an alert, then clicks the green "Save" button.
Active alerts are listed on the left; to delete an alert simply click the X in the list.
The cursor moves to the left of the screen and clicks on an X.
You can also click "Delivery Options" to update the email or wireless address you have your alerts sent to, or to put alerts on a temporary vacation hold.
The left side of the screen is highlighted in an area marked "Delivery Options" followed by "Vacation Hold."
