Bill Pay allows you to use your Schwab banking or brokerage account to conveniently pay personal and business expenses. Here's an overview of the Bill Pay service to help you get started.
To access the Bill Pay experience, log in to Schwab.com, click Move Money and then Pay Bills. Next, click the green Pay Bills button.
Bill Pay has two main tabs. Under Pay Bills, you can add and find payees, see unpaid bills, make payments, and monitor account balances and recent activity. Under Activity, you can see scheduled, processing, and past payments.
In this example, you can see we already have several payees and bills set up. You can click the question mark icon for step-by-step instructions on how to complete tasks like adding payees, making multiple payments, editing a payment, and more. You'll also notice information icons next to many of the headers, which you can point to for more information.
Let's take a closer look at a few features.
The Unpaid bills section contains reminders for upcoming bills that are ready for your review. This section only appears when bills are due.
To find a payee, you can use the search bar. You can also use the My payees section to sort payees alphabetically by name or by payment date. Additionally, you can organize your payees into groups—for example, to separate your business and personal expenses.
Click a payee to see its details. Here you can make a payment and edit payee information. You can also opt in to eBills, which will give you online statements and reminders, or set up autopay and bill reminders. Click Close to return to the Pay Bills screen.
Multipay allows you to pay several bills at once. We'll use the how-to feature to walk step by step through the process. To use Multipay, first, select payees. Next, click Pay selected bills to schedule payments. On the Schedule Payments page, enter the payment information for each bill. Finally, review the payments and click Pay selected bills to schedule the payments. You'll then be taken to a confirmation page.
You can see scheduled payments in the Recent activity section. This list also includes transactions that are processing or recently posted.
You can search older transactions under the Activity tab. Look for payments by payee name using the search bar or the filter. Click one of the scheduled payments to see its details and edit or cancel the payment. Here you can see any active autopays. Click View autopay to see the details and edit or delete the autopay.
