Narrator: Interested in setting up two-factor authentication for your Schwab account? Schwab encourages clients to log in with a second method of verification in addition to a password to add an additional layer of security and better protect your accounts. To get started, select Profile, then select Security Settings. Here, you can view and update your security preferences at any time.

Narrator: Select Only on untrusted devices to require only untrusted devices to go through the two-step verification process.

Narrator: For this example, we’ll set up text notifications to a mobile device, but the steps will be similar for the other options. Select Text, then select the desired cell phone number from the list of contact numbers added to your account.

Narrator: If you have not selected this method before, a popup window will ask you to enter the desired phone number. Then, a code will be sent to verify the number. The next time you log in to your account, Schwab will text a unique code to your device. Enter the code to log in to your account.

Narrator: If you are unable to log in to your account via two-factor authentication, client technical support can generate a code for you.
