PSR Marquees

The Marquee is the dominant hero featured on the top, or at the introduction, of a web page or digital experience. It’s used to connect with the user, pique their interests, set a desired tone, and draw them deeper into the content.

The Marquee is always the first component of the landing page, and contains the H1.

On this page, you'll find examples for the following Marquee variations available to publish on Schwab.com.

ETFs or "Exchange-traded funds" are exactly as the name implies: funds that trade on exchanges, generally tracking a specific index. When you invest in an ETF, you get a bundle of assets you can buy and sell during market hours--potentially lowering your risk and exposure, while helping to diversify your portfolio.

Your approach to ETF investing depends on what type of investor you are. At Schwab, we provide the help you need to build a strong ETF portfolio, whatever way you prefer to invest.

Deck-33-Divide > Card-Clear | Retail

As with any investment, it's important to understand the underlying strategy of any ETF you're considering to ensure it aligns with your goals. Below are some key points to remember:

  • Commissions

    • Typically, you’ll pay a commission when you buy or sell an ETF, just like any exchange-traded security.
    • Over time, those commissions can really add up and become cost prohibitive.
    • Not all brokers charge you a commission when you trade an ETF online. Always check before you trade.

Stepped-Guide-Pros/Cons | Retail

Sector ETFs have benefits that are enticing for almost any portfolio, but there are risks to consider before selecting such an ETF.

  • Pros

    Portfolio diversification

An investor with a concentrated position in a single stock may want to avoid duplicating sector exposure with a total market fund. In this case, holding sector ETFs from other sectors may help to round out the portfolio.

  • Cons

    Impact of outside influences

When outside influences (culture, government, economy, resources, etc.) experience a shift, that shift can have a negative impact on all the businesses within the sector. The result is increased volatility.

The Deck-Divide > Card-Clear places a fixed number of cards in a row, with a divider in between. There are several variations of this component that allow the author to control the number of cards shown in a row.

Currently, this component doesn't support cards with images and is intended for text-only cards. The component can show a card title, card body, and card button.

Deck-50-Divide > Card-Icon-Clear

This variation handles two cards in a row, and supports the inclusion of an icon. If more than two cards are included, then the cards will wrap to another row.

Deck-33 > Card-Callout-Icon-Clear | Retail

This variation showcases "callout cards," which are intended to highlight a specific attribute or feature. These cards are center aligned, and can display an icon, title, and body as seen here.

If more than three cards are included, then the cards will wrap to another row.

Deck-33-Divide > Card-Callout-Icon-Clear | Retail

This component is the same as the above component, except that a grey divider exists between the cards.

Unlike the above example, this variation only supports three cards in a row. If more are loaded, the icon won' t display for the second row, and the grey divider displays to the right of the third card on the first row.

Stepped-Guide-Pros/Cons | Retail

The deck variation compares the pros / cons of two cards. The only fields available for editing are the titles and the body for each card. The icons are consistent across the application of this component pattern.

Deck-33 > Card-Ornament | Retail

This variation showcases three cards with ornament attributes. Though you can opt to show fewer than three cards, the component doesn't transform.

This component display the title, body, and details field of the card content item.

This component has space constraints, especially on mobile, because it confines content to a square.

Building a diversified portfolio is a key principle for investing success.1

But with thousands of funds to choose from across many asset classes, getting started can be challenging.

Schwab's Personalized Portfolio Builder simplifies this process by helping you build a diversified portfolio of mutual funds or ETFs (exchange-traded funds) that meets your needs.

Here's how it works.

First, log in and choose the specific Schwab account you want to build your portfolio in.

Then you'll select the type of investment you're looking for. You can build an all-mutual fund portfolio—either taxable-bond funds or municipal-bond funds—or an all-ETF portfolio.

From there you'll choose your risk profile, ranging from conservative to aggressive. Once you choose, you'll see a preview of our recommended asset allocation.

After that, you'll specify your initial investment. There is no minimum, but we suggest at least $5,000 to ensure proper diversification.

Next, you'll compare and select from the short list of funds chosen by our experts.2

The charts provide information on recent performance history, or you can dive deeper for a more thorough comparison.

Once you select a fund, the Personalized Portfolio Builder automatically calculates the number of shares you need to purchase in order to match your target asset allocation.

You'll choose across multiple asset classes to build your new diversified portfolio. You can customize your allocation percentages to fit your preferences or opt out of an asset class altogether.

Once you've completed your selections, click the Trade button to purchase the funds. You'll now be able to track and monitor your positions from your account.

To access the Personalized Portfolio Builder and get started on your own diversified portfolio, open an account in just minutes on schwab.com or call us with any questions at 866-855-7728.

1. Diversification strategies do not ensure a profit and do not protect against losses in declining markets.

2. For illustrative purposes only. All tickers are hypothetical and do not represent any actual investment. Please see important disclosures at the end of this presentation.

  ETFs Mutual Funds

How are they managed?

While they can be actively or passively managed, most ETFs are passive investments pegged to the performance of a particular index.

Mutual funds come in both active and indexed varieties, but most are actively managed.  Active mutual funds are managed by fund managers.

How are they traded?

ETFs trade like stocks and are bought and sold on a stock exchange, experiencing price changes throughout the day.  This means that the price at which you buy an ETF will likely differ from the prices paid by other investors.

Mutual fund orders are executed once per day, with all investors on the same day receiving the same price.

What's the minimum investment?

Because they trade like stocks, ETFs do not require a minimum initial investment and are purchased as whole shares.  You can buy an ETF for the price of just one share, usually referred to as the ETF's "market price."

Minimum initial investments for mutual funds are normally a flat dollar amount and aren't based on the fund's share price.

Unlike ETFs, mutual funds, can be purchased in fractional shares or fixed dollar amounts.
