What Do Successful Investors Have in Common?

Click to show the transcript

I’ve seen so many people get so passionate about that one stock that I really am so passionate about… and end up never having had the fruits of anything. That’s wasted money. That’s wasted effort. It’s wasted ambitions. It’s wasted hope.

I have never met anybody who has perfect timing. No one is that smart to pick the one out of—one needle out of the haystack. So understanding your emotions, how you respond to the ups and downs of markets in addition to all the other things, it takes almost a Ph.D. to really figure that one out.

There’s one free thing out there you can do and that’s diversify. You can have a number of stocks or investments in your portfolio, not just one, and by having a number you have a much better chance of having wonderful success in your investing career.
