Have Difficult Conversations Now

Click to show the transcript

My grandparents come from that generation where they don’t talk about finances.

When it’s time for my mom to approach them on that topic, it was very difficult, it was too emotional for her to feel like she was taking something away from her mom.

So the way I approached it was, “Nana, at some point you’re going to need help. Who do you trust to do that? I think it’s important for us to get things in place now so that when that time comes, you have help.”

I’m extremely thankful that I was able to help my mom with my grandmother because that’s done now, and the rest of the time we have is spent making memories, spending good time with each other.
