Moving Money

There are many ways to add or transfer money to your Schwab account without any Schwab fees. However, your current firm or bank may charge a fee. Choose the method that’s best for you.

  1. Set up Schwab as a payee from your other online bank account.
  2. Add your Schwab account number in the payee account number field.
  3. If address and zip code are required, use: 2423 East Lincoln Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85016-1215.
Schwab Mobile DepositTM1 0–1 business day
  1. Go to Schwab.com on your mobile device.
  2. Download the Schwab Mobile app for your device.
  3. Apply for the Schwab Mobile Deposit service.

Deposit a check By mail: 7 business days

In branch: Same day
  1. Make check payable to Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.
  2. Endorse the back and add your account number.
  3. Fill out a deposit slip.
  4. Mail to the correct Schwab brokerage address or deposit it at your local branch.
You can trade most stocks and mutual funds as soon as the money is received in your account; however, funds may not be immediately available for withdrawals and transfers.

Deposit a check.
Transfer funds online First transfer: 5 business days

Thereafter: 1–2 business days
  1. Enroll your account in Schwab MoneyLink®.
  2. Watch your account for two “verification” trial transfers.
  3. Follow the email instructions, and then call 800-435-4000 to confirm and activate MoneyLink.
You can trade most stocks and mutual funds as soon as the money is received in your account; however, funds may not be immediately available for withdrawals and transfers.

Transfer funds online.
Transfer an account 5–10 business days for stocks, bonds, and acceptable mutual funds held at most brokerage or mutual fund firms. Trusts, banks, or insurance companies can take longer. Contact a Schwab Account Transfer Specialist at 866-232-9890.

Do it yourself online:
  1. Get the current statement from your old account.
  2. Complete the online transfer process.
You can begin trading once the account transfer is complete.

Wire transfer Same business day if transfer occurs before daily cutoff time.
  1. Provide sending institution with all necessary information.
  2. Follow the instructions to finalize your transfer.
You can trade as soon as the funds are received in your account—there are no holds.
