How much does it cost to open an account?


There is no fee to open and maintain an account at Schwab.

There is an exception: the Personal Defined Benefit Plan account, which has account opening costs. See details on this exception.

Is there a minimum initial deposit required to open an account?


The minimum initial deposit requirement varies depending on the type of account. We will waive the minimum deposit requirement for most account types if you establish a monthly transfer into your account.

The minimum is waived if you open a Schwab One brokerage account with Schwab Bank Investor Checking™, or if you establish a monthly transfer of at least $100 to your Schwab One account through either direct deposit or Schwab MoneyLink®.

The minimum is waived if you open a Schwab One brokerage account with Schwab Bank Investor Checking™.
Schwab One Estate Account$1,000

The minimum is waived if you establish a monthly transfer of at least $100 through either direct deposit or Schwab MoneyLink® .
